Attitude

When you run a business or even a blog that you would love more readers for, your mindset to that undertaking plays a huge part in its success.  When I say huge…I mean it.  Huge.

You can have a chic brand or header, beautiful imagery, incredible products and a kick ass business plan but if you don’t believe in what you are doing and back that up with your actions – you will fold.

Harsh?  No.  Just a truth delivery designed to get you not only thinking about, but knowing, that your mindset and attitude is the cornerstone and foundation to your success.

And the links between your positive, negative, fearful, flying or anything in between mindset translate directly into what you do or don’t do in your business.  When you fully back your business or blog you back yourself.  You carry it with you everywhere because you know that your next client, customer or reader could be just around the corner, just waiting for you and what you can do for them.

Women in business who truly believe in what they do have an outstandingly positive mindset and belief which can be seen in actions like the following…

They carry their business cards with them everywhere knowing that the one time they don’t have them will be the one time someone needs that card – and them.

They speak openly and with passion whenever anyone asks what they do or what on earth blogging is.

They take every opportunity they can to talk to people about their enterprise knowing that what they do and have is absolutely something that many, many people may want or need.

They focus on doing what needs to be done to make their business the best it can be for them and not spend too much time consumed with what their competition is doing.

They aren’t afraid of selling or self promotion and they do it in a way that is righteously respectful.  They know if they don’t sell and self promote they won’t sell anything.  No sales or self promotion = bye bye.

So beautiful you….if you are truly wanting to take your blog and/or business to the next level or wondering why things may not be moving in the direction you hoped for; it’s time to get really honest with yourself.  Are you actually afraid of success?  What’s holding you back from promoting your products?  What’s the real reason all your family and friends don’t know about your business dream?  Are you being your own best business friend?

Take the time to truly reflect and spend some loving time with yourself.  The issue or barrier you are facing may not be that you need a fancy new logo.  It may be something much closer to home.  And that’s a good thing beautiful.  A very good thing.  Because all the power and control is in your hands to positively change it.  And you totally can.

Over the past two weeks I have spent a great deal of time investing in myself.  Sure.  It was my birthday and that’s a bona fide reason for some spoiling, but I’m talking about more than that.  Something deeper.  Richer.  A more juicy investment.

I’ve been doing it for me and for Beautiful You as a business.  And I’ve been loving it.  Not a hint of feeling guilty.  Not a whisper of ‘You shouldn’t be.’  Not a sound or thought of selfishness.  At times it’s been so great I haven’t wanted to sleep.  Truly.  My mind has been swirling with such a need for more and such a desire to keep digging down into my investment that I haven’t wanted to stop for a moment.

When was the last time you really invested in the most important and valuable thing in your life – yourself?

While I have spoken many times here at Beautiful You about the value and importance of self care (and I ain’t changin’ my mind about that vital form of giving to yourself!) I’m talking about more than just self care such as having a blissful bubble bath, getting a mani/pedi, catching up with a friend.  Sleeping.

I’m talking about a deeper investment.  One that may see you finally dust off that big idea you’ve had and start bringing it to actionable life.  Dealing with that negative, weighty relationship that is not serving you.  Adjusting your attitude permanently about a situation you cannot change.

Investing in you can see dreams come true.  Health and vitality bloom.  Goals gear up.  Life be set in motion.  Barriers crumble.

If it’s been a long time since you really, truly invested in yourself beyond brushing your hair in the morning and making sure your socks match (although really that I think could be seriously overated as a fashion ‘rule’), here are some tips to get you thinking deeper about how you can start making some serious deposits at the bank of YOU.

Deal with a nasty habit or way of thinking that has been holding you back.  Now.   -   See a counsellor.  Let it out.  Let it go.   -   Sort out your finances.  Get help if you need to.   -   Have that conversation you don’t want to have.   -   Stop just reading amazing life giving information and take action on it.  Bring it to life.  Bring it to you.   -   Let your creativity out.  Out!  Watch you soar and hear you sing.   -   Spend money on yourself doing what you know you need to and want.  No money spent on the betterment of you is a waste.   -   Find ways to reframe what you think is a problem.  It could be a teacher, a motivator a source of inspiration if you view it another way.  -   Take a step, just one teeny tiny step every day towards making the life you want happen.  That’s 365 steps of greatness every.single.year.  That’s a dream life coming true.

Invest in you Beautiful You.  Investment by you for you.  And you know I’m here to help if you need me.  Feel free to email me with anything you may be stuck on or a question you may have that I can answer in a future blog post, or go for a deeper investment with some counselling or coaching.

It can be easy to lose sight of the obvious sometimes.

We all live such busy lives with numerous stresses, pulls, needs and wants, often striving for more and more.  Such striving does not necessarily have to be for ‘things.’  It can be a striving to be better, thinner, more beautiful, a stronger Mother, a more attentive partner, a more loving daughter.  It can be anything.

What this can add up to is a niggly or sometimes even very loud feeling and sense of not being ‘enough.’  The ability to just ‘be’ becomes harder, and in turn, so does our ability to be grateful for everything we have and are.

Smile, You Are Alive.

Now that’s an attitude of gratitude.

When I first saw this little saying and drawing it made me stop and think about how often I might wish to have something or be a particular way, forgetting that I am incredibly blessed and already have the basis of everything I need.  I’m alive.  I breathe in and out on my own.  I sleep, eat, love and am loved.

While we all want our lives to be amazing and wonderful and creations of our wildest dreams, sometimes it’s powerful to remember that if we are living we are already so much more fortunate than the many we may know who are no longer with us.  It’s about being grateful for the very simplest of things we have, that really, aren’t that simple at all.

A life truly is a wondrous gift.

What are you grateful for right in this moment Beautiful You?  What are the simplest of things or feelings that are seeing you smile and marvel that you get to be here on earth and be you?

I feel very blessed to lead what I consider an abundant life.  I have an amazing family, inspiring job and enough confidence to see me through my days with a happy attitude and smile on my face.  While by no means monetarily rich, all these things lead me to believing and feeling I live a rich life.  Despite feeling content and happy with my life, when I was recently asked to blog about what I would like an infinite amount of – I thought of plenty of things!

Initially, the first thing that came to mind was that I would like an infinite amount of love.  All the love, praise, kind words and feel good factors I could possibly envelope around me.  What couldn’t anyone achieve in their life if they had that in their life?  The more I thought about it though the more I realised that every day, as long as I choose to, I can have an infinite amount of love.  As I have spoken about many times here at Beautiful You the best and most important love of all is self love.  If we want to feel and experience true love in our life we have to first love ourselves, listen to our hearts, treat ourselves with kindness and be our own biggest champion.  While that may seem like a big ask, really all it takes is a decision.  A decision to myself and yourselves that I will, and you will, love yourself.  An infinite amount of love therefore is right there for us all to take and have.

I then thought that maybe an infinite amount of wisdom would be a wonderful thing to have.  Always making sound decisions – right decisions – based on good logic and information.  I then realised though that if I was infinitely wise there was the potential I may never make another mistake or take a wrong turn in life.  While it might seem tempting, I think we have all had experiences where we have learned so much about ourselves when something hasn’t gone our way or we could have made a better choice.  It often comes with some pain which we would rather not have, but the lesson is there to be had and of course contributes to who we are.

Then, ok, I’ll admit it.  I thought about having an infinite amount of money.  Besides the usual things of wanting to renovate our bathroom, take a food tour through Tuscany and pay for my Stepdaughter’s future education, I became a bit giddy thinking about all the amazing things I could do with limitless money.  Where do I begin?  I would pump money into medical research – body image education – improved mental health services – indigenous health and so much more.  But reality hit me when I soon realised that once word got out I had an infinite amount of money, my life would not be my own and worth living.  Can you imagine the scrutiny and pressure of all eyes on the world watching you and what you were doing?  It would make Brad and Angelina’s papparazzi woes look teensy in comparison.  An infinite amount of money for any one person would never be feasible.  It could just never be viable.

The more I thought about what I wanted an infinite amount of the harder I found it to decide, but I have now decided that I want an infinite amount of grace in my life.  I love the word grace and all it stands for.  It has so many intricate meanings including:

When I think of someone who is graceful, or acts with grace, I immediately think of someone who has inner beauty, strength, love and shows kindness to others.  I particularly think of someone who acts graciously and gracefully under pressure.  I certainly know there have been times in my life where I have not been as filled with grace as I have wanted.  Hindsight is of course a wonderful thing and whenever I have had it, it oftens seems to be connected to me wanting to go back to a situation and handle it with more grace.

While we all need to make mistakes in our lives to truly grow, I think having an infinite amount of grace to draw upon would be an incredible thing.  I feel that having such a well of beauty and genorisity would help me to deal with those really tough times in life when we need to find that extra something within ourselves to pull through.  Having a grace filled attitude to life and acting with grace is something I would love to have with me all the time.  Of course while I can choose to work on and be graceful as much as I can now – this is a fantasy question and every little bit helps!

I have been invited to blog about what I would like an infinite amount of by Vodafone in celebration of their new Infinite Plans where you have infinite text, calls, and social networking for $49.  By doing so I have become eligible to win a Coles/Myer Giftcard.  Many other bloggers are also participating so keep an eye out for lots of infinite dreams!

So…tell me Beautiful You.  What do you wish you had an infinite amount of?  Is there a tangible thing you wish was always there or a quality you wished you had in abundance?  I’d love to know!
