The best surprise that I’ve ever received would have to be the time that I got my first dog (at least, one that I can actually remember). I was about 14 or 15-years-old and it was my birthday. My dad had told me that my grandpa had given him money to get me a gift; however, that was a surprise in itself as well since my grandpa is such a penny pincher and hardly believes in spending money on things such as gifts. I was excited to say the least and I had yet to figure out what I was getting with the money because my dad had said it was for a specific gift.
We drove up to this house and my dad had me follow him and my mom up to the door and when we got inside, there were a litter of tiny baby chihuahuas walking about and barking their cute little barks. So, I picked out a chihuahua and was able to take him home on the spot since they were old enough. I picked the runt of the litter which was a black chihuahua and I named him Squeaks because when he barked, it sounded like he was squeaking. It was the best surprise I could have ever asked for.
The best surprise I received was when I came home from school and my aunt from the US, came to visit us in Canada. That made me extremely joyful as I love it when people show up unexpectedly. She stayed for a few days and we had a lot of fun with her.
the best suprise i have recived was that all my beautiful friends came to my 21st birthday. I was convinced no one would show up, and so many of my friends came, i felt so loved and special.
The best surprise I ever received was when hubby flew me interstate for my Birthday and took me to a Chris Isaak concert. We had front row seats and it included a meet and greet with Chris! Truly the best present ever!
(Apologies if this submits twice, Im having trouble getting it to post!)
The best surprise I’ve ever received was being proposed to! I knew he was going to pop the question, but I didn’t know where or when. It was this gorgeous, sweet moment where we had been talking about it (as you do) and how I didn’t want it to be this huge big thing, because that totally wasn’t us. Then, casually as you like, he just asked “Sonja, will you marry me?” Cutest, sweetest, best surprise ever
Last Christmas hubby gave me a bass guitar. I’ve always wanted to learn since I was a teenager. I still have a long way to go but it’s something from my to do list that I never thought I’d cross off!
The best surprise I recieved was from my best friend’s daughter, Esilia, who was only 2-3 years old at the time. I had just completed my first course in Reiki and I was telling my best friend all about it and that I also still felt a little skeptical – did I really have the power of Reiki in my hands now? At that moment, Esilia came and sat on my lap and put my hand on her chest. She kept my hand there for a few minutes and then pushed my hand away and smiled at me. I have never doubted Reiki again!
The best surprise I’ve ever received was getting a bottle-full of facts about me from my girl best friend as a birthday gift! She gave it to me at a time when I was unsure who I was. She reminded me!
The best surprise I ever got was the sheer number of friends and family who took time out of their busy schedules to visit me in the hospital and send me care packages, letters and texts. It meant the world to me and I’m sure it helped me get better faster!
I’m an email subscriber. The best surprise I received was when my husband proposed
. I really wasn’t expecting it- he cooked me dinner and invited me over, then popped the question (obviously when I saw the candle lit dinner, I knew something was up, but I thought we were just going to be eating by the TV as always, was pretty shocking!).

The best surprise for me was when my parents arrived very unexpectedly from out of province to my hospital room the day after our daugther was born. I wasn’t expecting to be able to see them or show them their first grandchild till Christmas. Plus I was having a very difficult time being far from home and not having my parents, who I am very close to, around to celebrate with. It made my day beyond words!
I mustn’t get many surprises, as I’m struggling to come up with one. I did get proposed to though, and that was a total surprise! We’re getting married this coming March!!
My best surprise was when I found out my first baby was a girl – I had always assumed my first baby would be a boy (don’t ask me why??)

The best surprise I’ve ever gotten, was a party for my 21st birthday. My mom tricked me into thinking I was picking up my aunt from a restaurant/bar bc she was drunk, convinced me to go in bc she wanted to buy me my first drink. I reluctantly went in, only to have everyone shout “happy birthday!” I thought “aw how nice, her friends are drunk too” lol… Then I focused on faces and realized they were all my friends and family. (sober)
completely shocked me! I was in tears and shaking for a while.
By far the best surprise I ever received was about this time last year when I found out I was going to be sponsored to fly to Australia for a blogging conference. I was going through a very difficult time after an assault and a bunch of Aussie bloggers got together and tried to find me a sponsor to come to the ABC conference in sydney. One woman wrote a post about it and got a call from GSK and the next day I found out that Macleans was sponsoring me. It was Nov 25, Thanksgiving Day here in the US, and also White Ribbon Day, so appropriate considering what I was dealing with. I just cried and cried, I was so happy. Even writing about it now brings tears to my eyes. I never imagined a company would consider me important enough to sponsor for an overseas conference, or that they would take a chance on associating themselves with someone who wrote so openly about DV. Coming to Sydney and meeting all my bloggy friends was a dream come true.
The best surprise I ever received was the ‘positive’ result from my pregnancy test and finding out we were finally going to have a baby. After trying for a year and a half I was starting to believe it was never going to happen so getting that positive result was definitely the biggest and best surprise ever!
The best surprise I ever received was recently when I just had my wisdom teeth out. My cheek was huge like a balloon and had all the expected sideeffects of being achy. The following night my girlfriend called me desperately needing a babysitter for her two children aged 5 and 3. I said I would do it despite my chubby cheeks because the kids were cute and not ever misbehaved. Once the I put the kids in bed and had read their stories I herad a knock at the door. I thought my girlfriend must’ve come home early. I tip-toed to the door so I wouldn’t wake the sleeping kids and to my surprise it was my beatuiful boyfriend holding a massive pot of home-made soup! It was such a gorgeous surprise because I’ve never seen my boyfriend cook anything (especially a soup from scratch!) and it was exactly moment when I felt like a bit of extra TLC. Babysitting has never been such a delight!
My husband coming home for my birthday yesterday, the second in 7 years though the last was marred by a tragic accident, as he works away from home and our daughter’s birthday is 5 days before Christmas. It was lovely.
My best surprise was after getting extremly ill with scarlet fever it scared my teeth my mom got my a teeth whitening and I cried it was THE BEST!
Thank you!
Back in 2008, when I was living (on a budgte) in the UK, I won a travel photo competition: the prize was a 10 day trip for 2 in Jordan. Finding out that I was the winner was the best surprise ever!
The best surprise I’ve ever received was an award bestowed by my school – the outstanding student award. I was really excited (and surprised) to receive the honour. It felt awesome!
The biggest surprise I have had was when my now husband proposed to me. He was 17 at the time (and I had just turned 18) and he asked me to marry him straight after he first realised he wanted to spend the rest of his life with me. That was over 15 years ago and I still love him to bits

My best surprise was finding out I was pregnant after miscarrying the month before .
My girls would love this and so would I! My favourite surprised would have to be when I found out I was having twins – boys. It truly was twice as nice and I was so delighted to have those gorgeous bundles come into our family. N x
Not being a big fan of the facebook thing, I reluctantly joined after much corercion from a friend.. Not soon after I joined, did I receive and email from a very long lost best friend from school who is now living in England and we have now picked up where we left off…I am still grinning from ear to ear!!! There’s nothing better than girl power to remind us that we’re beautiful.
