Sex and the City 2 (Photoshop Style)

Eeek!
What on earth is going on here?
Like many women around the globe I am incredibly excited to see the upcoming Sex and the City 2 Movie.  I’ll be there on opening night for a charity screening that is supporting The Warwick Foundation.  Don’t tell him I told you so, but Glenn is excited as well.  He came to the first movie with me and loved it, and we had a hot chocolate and fantastic conversation afterwards about the power of female friendships.
I’ve seen lots of great posters and promo’s about for the movie, but I’ve never seen this one until I saw it at The Huffington Post here this morning.  Whose bright idea was it to make Sarah Jessica Parker look like she has the face of a Bratz Doll and Kim Cattrall a strange cartoon figure?  Cynthia Nixon and Kristin Davis appear to have gotten off better, but the overall affect is very strange.
The thing that really annoys me about this, is that this production clearly has access to the best makeup artists, hair stylists, dressers, lighting and production experts that money can buy.  It’s Sex and the City!  It’s likely to be one of the biggest, if not the biggest, movie of the year.  I have no doubt that no amount of money has been spared in ensuring everything looks absolutely incredible.  These women are beautiful on any given day – so how is it that these people have not done their jobs well enough for someone to think such excessive photoshopping was needed?
Then again, have they indeed done their job but the SATC ladies been seen to be simply too old by Hollywood beauty standards to be put out there in the public without this sort of butchering?  I have come to expect the usual airbrushing and glossing over of lines and wrinkles, but this is just buffoonish.  I know the entire premise of the series and movie is meant to be about glamour and sexiness, but I think these women epitomise that anyway.  They don’t need to be cut up like this to sell their Sex and the City characters or the movie.
Pity the producers of the movie didn’t think the same when they approved this poster.

Bah!! This is just ridiculous. It doesn't even look like them. What's the point. They didn't even need to do a photo shoot, might as well just cartoon them in. Hmmmmm… this makes me sad.

This is honestly disgusting. SJP looks like she's been possessed and is about to do the exorcist headspin and everyone else looks like they've been on Sue Slyvester's diet of ipecac, water, hot sauce, and lemon. ICK!

Anyone who watches SATC understands that it is about empowerment but there is certainly nothing empowering or positive about this poster.

If I didn't know it was a Sex and the City poster there is no way I would have identified Kim Cattral – what on earth? And as for SJP – I can't believe she'd approve such a poster. Silly stuff.

I completely agree with you – they look so distorted you can't even recognise them. What message does this send to women about how they 'should' look in their forties?!

All of them are beautiful just the way they are, and their characters are meant to be independent and empowered. This poster just sends so many wrong messages. Really disappointing to see.

Wow, poor Kim Catrall doesn't look like herself here! Oddly, Kim looks like Rachel McAdams :s There's no need to mess with these girls, they're gorgeous on their own

Kim Cattrall doesn't even look like herself! I actually had to double-check the names at the top of the poster to make sure she was still playing one of the Fab Four.
