I was thrilled to recently be interviewed by Margarita Tartakovsky from Weightless about my work in the body image and eating disorder field. What a lovely opportunity! Thanks Margarita.
You can find the interview here including some of my top body image tips.
Thank you for the work that you do – and for sharing this wonderful, wonderful interview!
"No one would ever wish a horrifying mental illness upon themselves and to say that this is what people with eating disorders do is entirely untrue. It is also a dangerous thought process as it prevents the wider community from developing compassion and understanding for those living with the illness."
I honestly got choked up at this part. It means A LOT to see this call for compassion being put out there.
Also, I want to tell you that I really appreciate the fact that you use the phrase "people with eating disorders" rather than "the eating disordered," "anorexics," "bulimics," "binge eaters," etc. Thank you for foregrounding our humanity first! All too often our diseases are given first rank.
Hi sayhealth – Thankyou so much. Your words give me an injection of energy and motivation for my work which I already love so much! I truly believe compasion and understanding is still greatly lacking by many for people with eating disorders and this is just one of the reasons I love writing Beautiful You. Thankyou again for reading and commenting. I know you are a great advocate too!
